Everything you need to know about Dar Campus Marathon

The race, the entry, the training and the prizes. If your question is not here, we will answer it directly.

The race

When and where is the race?

+

Sunday 6 December 2026, starting and finishing at Posta Grounds in Dar es Salaam. Sunday is deliberate: the city is quietest, and the route is safest for a field full of first-time runners.

What distances can I run?

+

Three: 5 km, 10 km and 15 km. The 5 km is built for a first-timer, the 10 km is the step up for runners with a base, and the 15 km is the racing distance and where the awards are.

What time does my distance start?

+

The 15 km guns at 06:00, the 10 km at 06:45, and the 5 km is a rolling start from 07:30. All three converge on the same finish and the same Finish Village.

Do I have to be a student?

+

No. The race is built for students, but entry is open to the general public and to anyone who has never run a road race before.

What is the Finish Village?

+

The area at the finish holding the expo, brand activations, awards and post-race entertainment, plus fruit and cold drinks. Access is included with every entry.

Entry

When does registration open?

+

Mid-October 2026. Leave your details on the registration page and we will send you the link the moment entries open, along with the Saturday training schedule.

How much does it cost?

+

Student entry is 35,000 TZS with a valid student ID, and open entry is 40,000 TZS. Both cover any distance. Teams of ten runners or more pay 35,000 TZS per slot.

What does my entry include?

+

A technical race shirt, your race bib and timing, hydration on route, a digital finisher certificate, Finish Village access, and fruit and soft drinks at the finish.

Can I enter as a team?

+

Yes. Team entry starts at ten runners, at 35,000 TZS per slot. Student associations and institutions can also enter a team or host a campus week.

Training and prizes

Do I need to have run before?

+

No. The 5 km is designed for a first-time runner, and pacers are on course. Four to five weeks of Saturday training runs are enough to get you to that finish line.

Are the training runs free?

+

Yes, and you do not need to have entered the race to join. Saturday runs start roughly four to five weeks before race day, delivered with established Dar es Salaam run clubs who bring pacers and marshals.

How do I find a run club near me?

+

Tell us your area and the distance you are preparing for on the home page, and we will connect you with a participating club once our run club partners are confirmed.

Is there prize money?

+

Yes. A total purse of 6,000,000 TZS goes to the first three finishers in the 15 km and the 10 km. The 5 km is run for the finish rather than the podium.

What are the campus weeks?

+

From mid-October we bring a light run and a live panel to a different campus each week, five campuses over five weeks. Financial educators and mental health practitioners share the same stage. Free to attend, whether or not you have entered.

Still deciding?

The Saturday training runs are free and open to everyone, entered or not. Start there, then pick your distance.
